Marketing/Social Media/Communications Manager

This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and facilitating an annual marketing and social media plan for both an e-commerce and retail organization.

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of a mix of marketing experiences including: content development and marketing, photography, and social media implementation. Experience with beekeeping, entomology or a similar field is a plus. This position will require you, at times, to work closely with honeybees: Please take this into consideration when you apply.

  • Develop overall marketing strategy, based on industry knowledge, ensuring Bee Thinking continues to be seen as an industry leader in beekeeping
  • Translate Bee Thinking’s business goals and objectives into strategies and plans that will result in financial growth and increased consumer engagement
  • Plan and administer marketing operation budget
  • Develop promotional materials and content for website, portfolios and/or social media
  • Plan marketing engagements and host consumer events
  • Develop and maintain a photographic portfolio of products for online publication - preference will be paid to applicants with a portfolio of photographic work
  • Monitor a variety of social media channels, evaluate incoming activity and respond to customers in the appropriate brand voice
  • Develop and post original daily content designed to motivate current and potential social media followers to connect directly and drive relevant conversation
  • Manage a variety of email campaigns including marketing initiatives, monthly newsletters and customer surveys
  • Generate weekly updates and monthly reports outlining the marketing strategies and progress for the management team
  • Continually building understanding and knowledge of business and competitive environments

Job Requirements:

  • BS/BA required, Masters preferred in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field – or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing/ communications / social media marketing / PR – in an agency or applicable industry
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of photography and video technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe creative software, with a special emphasis on Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • Strategic and innovative thinking
  • Self-motivated, outgoing, confident, energetic and creative
  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Have a deep understanding of all social media platforms and services, including: Facebook, Vimeo, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Vine, Google+, Periscope, etc.
