Everything from the perfect packaging to the precision-cut cedar components, to the gorgeous and innovative finished product exceeded my expectations; my KTBH's are both beautiful and practical. Thank you!
I am a petite grandmother whose back doesn't need a other heavy, hard to manage hive so, I looked for one that eliminated the heavy lifting all together and Matt's sliding roof design really fit the bill so, I got two. Now I am happy camper, just hope that "my girls " will be as impressed as I am :-)

I ordered three TBHs - assembled two and sold one ot my friend who fell in love with my hives. Very easy to put together and solidly built. I didn't put any protection on the hive (heard that helps keep moisure down in the hive if natural wood) so we will see how long these two last. One came with a broken corner, but with wood glue and a clamp, fixed that easily. I cut a space in the bottom to create a screened bottom board (the norm up here where it can get hot) and it was very easy to do with a jigsaw. I love the viewing window! I do not need to go into the hive as often and I can sit with a nice mug of tea and watch the girls work! Thank you Beethinking!

It is an investment, but so far, seems well worth it. It is well constructed of 1" thick wood, everything comes pre-drilled and is easily assembled. One of the more unique design features are the side entrances. It is certainly beautiful after a few coats of Tung oil. There were a few missing parts, but customer service was great and I received the parts in a couple of days.

I researched a lot of top bar hives before purchasing one from Bee Thinking. While there were cheaper hives available they all lacked the quality and workmanship of this one. Customer service there is awesome. They got back to me promptly every time I emailed with questions.
The unassembled hive was fairly easy to put together. I did have to get my wife help me hold the trapezoid end pieces until getting the screws started. Instructions were a little vague. It would have been helpful to have more picture/diagrams, particularly of installing the hinges for the top and attaching the legs (my wife and I had differing opinions on which way the legs went on).
Overall, it's a great looking hive and very aesthetic. I'm in the city limits and didn't want it to stand out, it blends in great in my back yard.
If all goes well, I will definitely order another one next year.

I purchased this hive as a 3rd top bar hive in our backyard apiary. My first two hives were also purchased from BeeThinking several years ago. This new hive has some nice improvements including lower entrances which make it easier for the bees to keep the hive clean and an entrance reducer for the largest entrance. My only disappointment is that the original hive bars from my other two hives are not interchangeable with this new hive. I had hoped that I would have uniform hives so I could move bars of comb, brood or honey between hives if needed. I could cut the older bars down to make them fit in the new hive, but that is work I wasn't anticipating. If you have older Bee Thinking hives, be aware that your older bars will not fit in this hive. Aside from that frustration, I have been very happy with my purchases from Bee Thinking including the quality of the hives and their customer service.

I am a first timer beekeeper and this hive was easy to assemble and hive with a package of bees. I would suggest to first timers to consider a feeder.

Despite a backlog, I was kept appraised of delivery status, which arrived as expected. There were a few minor shipping blemishes on one of the corners of the copper top, slightly crushed but no functional impact, and one of the screw holes securing the viewing pane cracked, dislodging the screw, but this was easily addressed. However, I did receive the updated viewing pane which spans the length of the hive. Assembly was very straight-forward with no hitches other than tightening screws in holes aligning with wood knots, but some more pre-drilling took care of those two instances. After a few protective coats of clear ploy satin were applied outside for finish, it is a handsome hive. Now, the package of bees will be installed next weekend, so let's hope they like their new digs. I've got some swarm boxes prepared just in case.

My TBH from Beethinking arrived this past weekend and it is simply awesome. You guys do a great job with the design while keeping it very simple to assemble. The thing looks really spiffy, too.

Everything went together great. No adjustments needed. All the bolts went straight in the legs. I think you are making a very good product.
