The top bar hive tool is based on the "Bill Wood Comb Knife". Originally designed for Warre hives, we use our top bar hive tool whether we're managing a top bar hive or a Warre hive. Use it in your Warre hive by reaching down through the combs, turning the blade parallel to the side wall, and then pulling it back up to detach the combs. Use it in your horizontal top bar hive to cut combs from the sides and cut the sticky propolis holding your bars together!
