Works perfectly with Top Bar Hive
Really well made from quality materials. For those of us who are math challenged and or just don't want to figure out compound angles, this is the answer. Even if you have the tools, but don't trust your ability to mill each piece with precision and accuracy, this set is the way to go. The cost of materials alone would be half the cost of this easy to assemble set of legs. Plus, (here is the best part) if you build any part of the hive yourself you may casually fail to mention that you ordered these very visible supports separately. Your admiring visitors will think you are a hive-building rockstar!
The fit was very good. There was a large 1/2" thick "splinter" on one leg. Very nice (clear heart) cedar, but with an obvious defect. My last review was of quality control, as is this. I was previously contacted by Bee Thinking rep with an offer to replace defects. Again, certainly not necessary, but growing pains include quality controls. I'll order two more Bee Thinking TB hives this summer….and I'll give a "full report". Still, the highest quality I've seen in TBH's.
Top bar hive seems okay. Have to see test of time. Really poor assembling instructions. Should have better print one and a utube
the legs that I bought fit the top bar hive that I had made from the plans from Bee thinking. I am very happy as to how this hive came out and am waiting for my bees to arrive around May 1
Sugar Pine is our value wood option. Beautiful, strong, takes paint or sealant well, and is more stable and lighter than more common ponderosa pine.
Western Red Cedar is our premium wood option. It is rot resistant, dimensionally stable, insulates well, and doesn't require painting or sealing.
All of our wood is sustainably harvested and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
