Cedar Quilt Material

1   |

This cedar quilt material is included with every Warre hive, but there are times where you may need to replace or refill your quilt box. This is 100% shredded cedar toe, with no chemicals or additives. Unlike sawdust which is harder to work with, these cedar shreds fill the quilt well, stay absorbent, and will last for years.

    Snug as bugs in rugs

for Warre quilts and now using for Langstroth quilt mods. 3-4 bags might fill a traditional Warre quilt but I am using 1 beethinking bag per quilt stretched with some straw; I'd use ALL cedar if I were flush on dollars at the moment (but a cedar and straw mix definitely goes farther than the few federal reserve notes, however!!!!!)

Sugar Pine is our value wood option. Beautiful, strong, takes paint or sealant well, and is more stable and lighter than more common ponderosa pine.

Western Red Cedar is our premium wood option. It is rot resistant, dimensionally stable, insulates well, and doesn't require painting or sealing.

All of our wood is sustainably harvested and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
