Intermediate Beekeeping Workshop: How to Prepare for the Winter

If you are worried about preparing your beehive for the winter, this class is for you!


Beekeeping is a dynamic learning process best taught by the bees themselves, and having a knowledgeable mentor go through a hive with you is a priceless way to expedite this learning. Join us for our end-of-season Intermediate Beekeeping course where students will have hands-on experiences with:

  • Final season hive check and preparation for the winter
  • General comb safety and health
  • Brood and honeycomb patterning and organization
  • To feed or not to feed
  • Hive tool, bee brush, and smoker technique
  • General hive observations, reading, and troubleshooting in response to live, functioning hives
  • Anticipation and safety practices

When: Saturday, October 15th, from 10 am- 1 pm

Bee Thinking will provide: Hive tools and full-body bee suits


You will need to bring: A personal water bottle, close-toed shoes, and all your beekeeping questions!


There are only 10 seats, so reserve your position early!


Class will be conducted with an assumed knowledge of beginning beekeeping basics. Please contact us with any specific needs or requests. Each student will be required to fill out and sign a liability waiver to participate in class activities.
