Ultimate Hive Tool

43   |

Our ultimate top bar hive tool is hand-forged in Portland, Oregon from 1/4" steel and is engraved with the Bee Thinking logo.

Our ultimate hive tool works well for all hive types. It is perfect for detaching comb from hive sides, cutting and scraping propolis, and prying frames. Whether you're using a horizontal top bar hive, a Warre hive, or a foundationless Langstroth, this is the only hive tool you'll need to carry!

"The premium, hand-forged hive tool, to be passed down from one beekeeping generation to the next. For use with any hive type." - Cameron, Sales and Customer Service Manager

Our tool is based on the "Bill Wood Comb Knife", but has the added benefit of incorporating a traditional hive tool on one end. Having fallen in love with the original comb knife, but tired of carrying around a traditional hive tool for situations where prying is needed, we decided to combine the two!

Length: 12 3/4"

Chisel: 1 1/2" x 1 1/4"

Curved Blade: 1 3/8" x 5/8"

Ultimate Hive Tool

I especially Love the craftsmanship. Its to beautiful to put in a tool box so I leave it out. It works beautifully.

Very handy tool

The tool does an excellent job prying top bars apart and cutting through bracing the bees use to brace the comb to the sides. It's very solidly built, and the dimensions are right--long enough to do the job but no longer than it needs to be.

The best - Period

So glad I bought this! The best tool I have ever used! Caveat I am new to the hobby but I've helped others a lot and brought my tool and they have ALL ordered one afterwards!

Sugar Pine is our value wood option. Beautiful, strong, takes paint or sealant well, and is more stable and lighter than more common ponderosa pine.

Western Red Cedar is our premium wood option. It is rot resistant, dimensionally stable, insulates well, and doesn't require painting or sealing.

All of our wood is sustainably harvested and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
