This is true for both western red cedar and sugar pine wood options. The good news is that you’ll get 20% off your hive in either wood option! We want to ensure we have the time to hand-craft your hive to meet our high quality standards. If you order today, you will receive your hive in 8-10 weeks, in time for beekeeping season.

Bee Thinking Warre hives are precision-milled in Portland, Oregon using sustainable, FSC Certified Western Red Cedar or Sugar Pine. Our Warre hive kits feature full 1" thick lumber, rabbet joints, pre-drilled holes and stainless steel screws for added strength and longevity. Sloped handles allow for improved rain run off and better grip when lifting. The precision milled, one piece top bars are unattached for compliance with most state and local beekeeping laws. Ships free to the contiguous 48 states -- international shipping available.

Great hive, love the design and viewing windows to check out the bees without disrupting the whole colony.

            This is the second bath

This is the second bath of Hives I've bought. I am a woodworker, so maybe I am too picky, but it has bothered me that the pieces aren't relatively exact cut. So, when you assemble them, they don't fit quite right. Also that the cuts are sometimes pretty rough so you get large splintering off edges. This can cause things like the sliding door cover for the hive window to fit sloppily, allowing air in, and in general for hive boxes to not sit solidly on top of each other, also leaving air gaps. For the price I'd expect a bit more finesse.
