Great product, love the warre hive. Really good customer service before the bee season, but as soon as April rolled around, you couldn't get anyone on the phone or get much service. It is May 19th and I still don't have my headgear or suit. Needed another box and couldn't get that either. Maybe they just were so overwhelmed with this year's orders they couldn't keep up. Hopefully next year, they will be prepared for being so successful.
Our purchase of the Warre Hive Starter Kit has been frustrating, at best. We were initially told our hive would take anywhere from 2-5 weeks to get to our front door. Five weeks came and went and we still had no word on the status of our hive. I was finally able to get in touch with a person and was told our hive was another two weeks out. Eeks! The customer service agent was wonderful and was able to get us the most critical pieces of the hive to our home two days before we picked up our bees. Phew! Well, upon receiving our package and putting our hive together, it was discovered that one handle was missing, one long box side was cut incorrectly and was unable to be assembled, and most (read all) of the items in our starter kit were not included. We attempted to make contact via phone and email and finally received an email back a couple days later. We were assured these pieces would leave their warehouse two business days from the time of the email and should arrive at our home within a couple days. We are going on two weeks without receiving that package and have not even received an update on the status after three requests. Our hive continues to be patched together with odds and ends we found around our house (including a piece of cardboard and some tape). It seems that the busy season is a little too overwhelming for them to handle. While the hive itself is beautiful, we are still missing more than half of our order. Customer service lines are always busy and none of our calls have been returned; emails are never returned in less than two business days. This experience has been so frustrating that we will definitely take our business elsewhere for all future beekeeping needs. Fingers crossed our package makes it to us...
I ordered a Warre Hive Starter Kit around Feb 21st 2017, after reading reviews about Bee Thinking. The only negative comments were regarding a long lead time. With my starter bee package arriving on April 14th, I thought I had plenty of time. After a few calls and assurances I would have my kit by the 14th it arrived. It arrived on the 13th, with only half of the components. I scrambled to assemble it and modify it to work for the bees. It was not a good start for a beginner. After a call I did receive some of the missing components, yet to this day I do not have 3 items from the kit. The smoker, hive tool, and bee suit (kinda important). I do like the quality of the product and the people (when you get someone) are nice and helpful. Unfortunately, I will look elsewhere for my next hive/products.
I'm totally new to beekeeping, and this kit definitely did the trick! It has all the major things you need to get started with beekeeping (except the bees). I hived my bees yesterday (as I write this review) and the process went smoothly and easily! If I were to recommend anything, it would be to make sure you either buy a Warre top bar spacer or build one before you hive your bees. Great product!!
The hive is gorgeous. It came together quickly. The kit contained everything we need to start our apiary.
